Intro: Game Theme
What do you do when you have sailed across a large portion of the world? When your name is enough to make your enemies shake with fear, what else is there for a Viking to do? If mortal enemies are no longer worthy opponents, the only answer is to find new ones: in Hell! Vikings Go To Hell is a 2018 follow-up to Yggdrasil’s Vikings Go Berzerk. It follows the same general design while improving the little details and adding a few new things.
One of the most important things with a sequel is for it to provide obvious improvements. While this slot provides that on all fronts, the visuals clearly saw a lot of care and attention put into them! The Viking crew look angry and ready to take on an army of hellish demons. The animations during which they fight these enemies are some of the best we have ever seen this developer produce! That is not mentioning the fantastic atmosphere the game offers us. Jagged rocks and a heavy mist are the majority of the background, very clearly telling you that you do not belong there.

How it Works
You play this Yggdrasil release on a five-reel board with 25 fixed paylines. To win, you need at least three matching symbols in adjacent positions. These icons must start with the leftmost reel, otherwise they will not grant a winning prize. The control panel looks fantastic while remaining easy to use. You can change your bet, spin the reels, set up Autoplay and use the Max Bet button. Tapping or clicking the plus allows you to open the help menu, look at the paytable or adjust the settings. Players can bet between £0.10 and £100 on each spin.
Symbol designs look even better than they did in the previous title. Vikings Go To Hell keeps to the same baseline. A crew of four Vikings is once again the main cast of the reels, and look far more realistic and badass than they did previously. This time around, they did not bring any treasure. Instead, the low value icons are their weapons of choice that are used to fight demons. Wilds are disappointingly simple, being just the word Wild written on a brown background. Fortunately, the Scatter looks much cooler, depicting a threatening demon lord ready to ruin our day.
Collect two Scatters to start a re-spin round, during which all Wilds turn sticky. Before re-spins are played, all Viking symbols will start a fight against a demon. Every Viking that wins their fight turns into a Wild, and adds one rage point to that specific Viking.
Rage points are slowly accumulated over the course of the game. Once you get one hundred points on a single character, you receive seven Berzerk free spins. The Viking that activated the bonus will always win all his battles, but does not collect rage points.
Another way to activate free spins is to collect three or more Scatters, or by winning free spins from a treasure chest. Three, four or five Scatters grant you seven, twelve or sixteen free spins. At the end of each spin, a Lord of Chains appears, and is defeated by being hit three times by the Vikings. Defeating him grants two random sticky Wilds, and progresses you to level two. Here, you get seven more free spins and battle Lucifir. The fight works the same way as before. Except now, all Vikings turn Wild and an extra 3x multiplier is applied to the remaining free spins as a prize.
The last bonus are the treasure chests. They come in two variants: good and epic. Within, you can find free spins, cash prizes and a rage boost. If you find a chest during free spins, it will award extra free spins, random Wilds or a Wild reel instead.
We had high expectations for this slot considering the success of Vikings Go Berzerk. We consider it a feat the developers managed to not only meet, but also exceed them all! The graphics are a marked improvement, though we can think of a few software providers that will still beat them. However, the new additions to the gameplay are what truly won us over! Having a proper battle against a demon king and winning is a thrill like no other! However, that is something you should experience on your own, playing this game!
