Intro: Game Theme
Although ancient Egypt has not been with us for more than 2000 years, its legacy lives on in our minds. Every so often, pharaohs, pyramids and old gods appear in our daily lives, and on the reels. With such a massive cultural mainstay, it would make for a popular slot theme. People always want more of ancient Egypt, and Gamomat’s Ramses Book is happy to provide! The original title launched in 2016, and spawned several variants with additional mechanics. Do you dare venture into the tomb of Ramses to find the treasure hidden within?
When you use a theme as widespread as this one is, it can be difficult to remain original. Rather than trying to do something new, the developers opted to make their release look memorably fantastic instead! The background image depicts the insides of a pyramid. Large pillars can be seen on either side of the reels, with various drawings and hieroglyphs written on them. What lies within is obscured by the reels, which do not allow you to peek within the pharaoh’s tomb. Instead, they dazzle you with playing card suit symbols and icons that take inspiration from ancient Egyptian culture. All of them have the fluid, high quality animations that Gamomat is known for!

How it Works
Ramses Book is played on a five-reel board with ten flexible paylines. However, you cannot remove individual paylines on or off. Instead, you can either have five or all ten active at the same time. Turning paylines off lowers your wager, but also decreases your chances of winning. Wins are formed when two, three or more matching symbols land next to one another. A winning combination has to start with the first reel on the left, and must follow an active payline. The software provider use their standard colourful control panel in this slot, too. Using it, punters can turn paylines on or off, change the coin value, set up Auto Play and spin the reels. They can also look at the paytable and the game rules. Above the reels, they will find a setting menu, and the option to turn sound on or off. You can bet between £0.05 and £6.00 on every spin.
Icon designs are another strong suit of this release. As we mentioned previously, the developers use playing card suits. In order to make them fit with the theme, they added hieroglyphic markings on the crystals. It may not charm everyone, but we thought it was a nice little detail. Players also have access to unique designs like a crystal flower, a bird statue, three onyx cats, a large stone with hieroglyphs, and Ramses himself. The book is both a Wild and a Scatter. It can fill in for other symbols, but also acts as a way to activate the main special feature.
Free spins are activated by finding three or more Wild-Scatter Book symbols on the board. Before the extra turns are played, one icon is randomly selected to become the bonus symbol. Any icon can be chosen to become the bonus symbol, except for the Book itself. The chosen icon will pay from any position for the duration of the special feature, as long as there are enough of it to warrant a win. The bonus symbol will also expand to cover the entire reel it is occupying. If the free spins are retriggered, the same bonus icon is used.
Once you score a win, you can risk it for even bigger wins using two gamble methods. One is the Card gamble, where you must guess the correct colour of the card. The second is the Ladder gamble, where you need to time it so the highlight is above your current wager. In both cases, you can bet all of your money at once, or just half of it.
If you enjoy Book-style slots, then Gamomat’s Ramses Book will be right up your alley. The only flaw we could find is the absence of more special features. However, that was rectified in the additional versions of this slot that the software provider created. You can freely choose depending on your preferences. All of them come with a fun gameplay loop, amazing graphics and beautiful animations. That said, the first game launched in 2016 remains our favourite. With a 96.15% RTP and a 5000x jackpot, there are plenty of reasons to love this release.
