Long before humans formed civilization, they learned to fear the howl of wolves. It meant a nearby pack was slowly moving towards them, intent on hunting the weakest among us! Even after humans built towns and cities, the fear of wolves never truly went away. Instead, it turned inwards; people like you and me, which transformed into horrific beasts every full moon! This idea served as the basis behind Pragmatic Play’s Curse of the Werewolf Megaways. In it, you can find mystery symbols, spin modifiers, and a free spins round. That is, if you live long enough to enjoy those special features!
All the action takes place in an old-looking village. It is difficult to place exactly when this online slot takes place. Honestly, we think it was left a bit open-ended by design. The reels take up the majority of the screen, so you cannot see the background all that well. Fortunately, we do get some fantastic icon designs to make up for it! We love the human symbols, who are either very relaxed or incredibly suspicious. Add the fantastic animation Pragmatic Play put in, and you get an excellent title! Now let’s delve deeper into this new Labslots review.
Curse of the Werewolf Megaways Slot Features
- RTP: 96.50%
- Betting Range: £0.10 – £100.00
- Max Win: £4,097,600.00
- Similar Slots: Ted Megaways, Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior, Centurion Megaways
How it Works
You play this release on a six-reel board where we have Megaways active! They replace standard paylines, which is very helpful when it comes to scoring winning combinations. The height of each reel is variable, and changes with every spin. Sometimes you will get as little as two icons in one row, or as many as six at once! Wins are formed by finding three or more identical symbols in adjacent positions. All winning combinations must start with the leftmost reel to grant a cash prize. With the control panel, players can spin the reels, set up Auto Play, change their bet, turn sound on or off and open the paytable. Punters can wager between £0.10 and £100.00 on each spin!
Icon designs are some of the best that we have ever seen from Pragmatic Play. The playing card royals look okay, but they are nothing to write home about. No, what won us over was the ridiculousness of the human symbols! You have two of them that look cartoon villain levels of suspicious. Then there is the woman who looks relaxed, and a man in a cap whose face is mildly unsettling. Capping it off is the wolf icon, which is also the most valuable symbol. A ripped paper is a Wild, a howling wolf is the mystery icon, and the moon is a Scatter.
Curse of the Werewolf Megaways Bonus Rounds
Outside of special features, mystery symbols can appear on all reels and in any size. When they land on the reels, they wait for the round to end before transforming into a random icon. All mystery symbols transform into the same icon, which increases the odds of landing a winning combination with them. Especially if you get lucky and land a few Wilds alongside mystery symbols.
Players also have two randomly activated bonuses, called spin modifiers.
- Super Spin creates stacks of high value icons when it activates
- Guaranteed Win makes sure you get a big win on multiple ways to win
While not a big bonus by any means, it does enhance your payouts every now and then.
Collect three, four, five or six Scatters on any position on the reels to win eight, ten, twelve or fifteen free spins, respectively. During free spins, an attacking werewolf swaps the standard wolf symbol. Whenever the werewolf hits, it removes one to five lives from one of the high value human icons. Once enough lives are removed, that human symbol is swapped with the standard wolf icon. A successful transformation lasts until free spins end, and even extends it slightly by granting an extra free spin. You can also get between two to ten free spins by landing two to six Scatters during free spins.
Curse of the Werewolf is a great entry into the Megaways genre. It delivers thrilling high volatility action, without getting too crazy with it. The decent RTP and shot at winning a massive 40,976x your total stake certainly help in keeping people interested! The special features are fun, but the free spins round feels a league above everything else. As a whole, this slot is definitely one of the better ones Pragmatic Play have produced. If you have not had the pleasure to try it yet, we definitely recommend doing so! Check out our list of slot sites to see where you can try it out!
