Intro: Game Theme
Atlantis has been in the minds of people for a long time. European explorers have searched high and low for this island, motivated by the words of Plato. Nowadays, there is a consensus that the island never existed. It was a fictional nation, meant to serve as the enemy of Plato’s ideal state. Because of their failure to invade Athens, the angered deities proceeded to sink Atlantis beneath the waves. Available special features include cascading wins, a re-spins round, and a shot at four fixed jackpots.
The developers wisely decided not to go overboard in terms of visuals. There are animations on the playing field and in the background, but they are not very flashy. That said, Atlantis Megaways uses a variety of awesome visual effects. One we particularly liked was how it slowly zooms in on the reels as it comes close to possibly triggering a special feature! Small details like that are what made us fall in love with the graphics of this slot.

How it Works
You play this game on a six-reel board with up to 117,649 ways to win. As the name might have given away, this title uses the Megaways format instead of traditional paylines. On each spin, the height of all six reels is constantly changing. In order to win, players need three or more matching symbols in adjacent positions, starting with the leftmost reel. Thanks to the Megaways system, you do not have to follow any strict paylines to earn a cash prize. The layout is easy to use, and is designed primarily for mobile users. We can use the user interface to spin the reels, set up Auto Play, change our total bet and look at the paytable. You can bet between £0.20 and £100 on each spin.
Available icon designs are a mix of playing card royals and various underwater animals. We do not have a lot to say about the letters and numbers. They have been stylised to suit the theme, and tend to blend in with the scenery. Suitable for low value symbols. Other icons are more interesting. We can find dolphins, octopi, seahorses, and fish. The highest value symbol is the angered deity, Poseidon. The closed lockbox is a Scatter, while an ancient Greek still standing underwater is the Wild.
Cascading reels are in effect in this release. After each win, symbols that were part of that winning combination are removed. Existing icons fall down to take their place, while brand new symbols appear at the very top. This system allows for several consecutive wins for the price of a single spin. This system remains in effect during the entire time Atlantis Megaways is played, which drastically increases your odds of winning.
Players need six or more Scatters to unlock the re-spins round. The triggering chests are locked in place, and three re-spins are awarded. The re-spins are played, with the goal of getting as many chests on the board as possible. Each time a new Scatter lands on the reels, the number of re-spins is reset back to three. The special feature continues until all re-spins run out, or when a Scatter covers all positions. The total of all chests is added up and awarded as a singular cash prize. Each chest can have a cash value ranging from 1x to 100x, or it can grant one of four fixed jackpots.
- Mini – 10x
- Minor – 50x
- Major – 250x
- Grand – 2000x
You can win the Mini and Minor jackpots more than once during re-spins. However, Major and Grand can only be won once per special feature.
Megaways slots are usually very feature heavy. We like this, but a bit less complexity occasionally would be nice. If you ever felt that way, this game is aimed towards you. Unlike many other titles using this system, Atlantis Megaways is happy to leave you with just two special features. Of course, fun gameplay is not the only reason we are recommending this release. First, the math model behind it is solid. You can win up to 8640x your total stake, and the RTP is 96.09%. The variance is also set to medium, which makes it accessible. We also enjoyed the stellar animations and beautiful graphics. An all-around impressive title, and one well worth your time.
